Bling French

Here's another french :) It's just a basic french but I added light blue rhinestones along the top of the white. I added two coats of Pro-Fx top coat and I'm amazed at how durable these were. I'm a waitress and they actually lasted two days and then they lasted threw a baseball game. All that abuse and I didn't lose any rhinestones :) Try this mani, you'll get lots of compliments :)

Blue Tips

Alright I'm a sucker for french tips.. I'm not really sure why, but I have always loved them. They are super easy to do yourself so if you have ever thought about trying them..DO IT :) The best thing about these is you can use whatever colors you want, you can mix things up. Everyone has different skin tones so you have to just experiment and see which nude works for you if you want to stick with a traditional french. My favorite is (well at the moment) Wet n Wild's Private Viewing. And any white will do. The next important thing is scotch tape. This will be your best friend for making those straight lines. My little tip is to not use too big of strips of tape or they will fold over each other on the bottom of your finger and then it will be harder to get it off. Let the nails completely dry, if I'm in a hurry I'll wait until they are at least half dry, and carefully remove tape. Once you do that just apply your top coat :)

Colors Used in this mani:
Wet n Wild megalast- Private Viewing
China Glaze- 553 Sexy In The City
Pro-Fx Quick Dry High Gloss Finish Top Coat

Philadelphia Phillies!

In honor of going to a Philadelphia Phillies game today I decided to paint my nieces nails :) Of course I had to give her a little bling too!

Polish Used:
Sally Hansen Hard as Nails- 110 Hard To Get
New York Color Long Wearing Enamel- 131 Big Apple Red Creme
Pro-FX Quick Dry  High Gloss Top Coat

Materials Used:
Nail art brushes
Silver rhinestones
Dotting tools

First step and always important step, especially if you paint your nails a lot, Base Coat. I just use my Pro-Fx as my base coat. I continue on with painting all the nails except the middle finger white and use two coats. The middle finger I painted two coats of red. Allowing drying time in between coats. Once the second coats were dry I started painting on the baseball laces using my nail art brushes (available on Ebay from a bunch of sellers- I got mine for .99 for 3) After I got all the laces on I used my top coat and drew on the "P" *It's ok if you mess up because in the end you're going to apply top coat over the rhinestones so this will hide it* Working as quick as you can- but really its no big deal- apply the rhinestones on the "P" If the top coat dries while you are working on placing the jewels just reapply some more. Once you get all the rhinestones on apply a thick coat of top coat to the rhinestone fingers and just a normal amount of top coat on the rest to seal the baseballs. This design is a bit time consuming but SO worth it, these nails are adorable :)

Color Review

This post is just basically a color review. I'm going to do two. The first one is this purple color :) I actually used two different polishes to achieve this look. First I used Wet n Wild megalast- 213c On A Trip and the second color is Pure Ice- Busted. I bought both of these at my local walmart for cheap.. Under $5 for the both of them. But the saying is true, you get what you pay for. I love the brush on the Wet n Wild because it's what they call a "manicurve pro brush" so it's rounded not cut straight across. I only needed two coats of it even though it was pretty runny. Once that was all dry I applied one coat of the Pure Ice- Busted. The colors are so close to each other that it only adds the shimmer, which is what I was going for :) All in all the color I "made" was pretty, a nice light lavender shade with a pretty slightly gold shimmer. Don't be afraid to mix your shimmers with different colors of polish.. I'll post later about a pink base and purple glitter combo that I just love.

My next review is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri: 470 Speedy Sunburst. I love these polishes because they have such great coverage. It only takes one coat! It's not thick and gooey either. I couldn't wait to use this color but then once I used it I was disappointed. It's not as pink as I thought.. it has a more red tone to it. Maybe it's just that way against my skin tone which is totally possible. I have no complaints about the product itself, as I said I love this line, but it's just not the color for me. Oh and I almost forgot...I again bought this at my local Walmart and it was only $3.57 I found this at other stores but walmart was just the cheapest. Well that's all for today. Thanks for reading :)

Toy Story Alien Nails

So who doesn't love the Toy Story movies?! I love them, and I just love the aliens. They are my favorite :) Since I love them so much I figured hey why not sport them on my nails? :) Here's the low down on how to do them... *Note: this one requires a lot of time.. there's a lot of drying time needed*

Polish Used:
Pure Ice- Celestial
Pure Ice- Wild Thing
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri- 430 Brisk Blue
Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine- 05 Flair
(2) Art Deco pens- Black and White

Other Tools Used:
I bought these on Ebay from the seller (technology-etrade) for $1.26

I also bought these on Ebay from the seller (ashopone) for $0.99

Anywho..
How To:
First I painted my nails *except the ring fingers* with the Pure Ice- Celestial once they were dry I used one of my favorite tools -Tape- to tape off my tips. *Note: when taping your fingers you don't want to use too big of a piece or the tape will fold over on the ends and then it will be too hard to get off* Once I was all taped up I used the Sally Hansen- Flair and painted the tips. I let them dry somewhat and then painted my ring fingers with the Sally Hansen Brisk Blue. I then used my white art deco pen and drew on the alien head. Again allow time to dry. Once that's dry then I used Pure Ice- Wild Thing and painted the white green. I allowed it to somewhat dry, I was careful enough to not mess it up, and then I used one of my nail art brushes to apply a thin line of Flair between the green and the Brisk Blue. Once the green was dry I used my dotting tools and applied the 3 eyes to each of my aliens along with the black dot in the eye. Once it is all dry apply a top coat of your choice. Viola Toy Story Alien Nails! :)

DIY Nail Polish

DIY nail polish! I read somewhere online about making your own nail polish with eye Shadow.. Well I decided to try it! My thoughts on it: It's messy. The finished product; not bad. Just a heads up the color is going to be lighter then the eye shadow you choose and then the finished product when on your nails will dry matte.

Products Used:
Any bottle of clear top coat.
(Since this was my first time I only used a small 5mL bottle)
Any brand/shade of eye shadow

I went to my local dollar store and grabbed some eye shadow (pictured above) and I used a bottle of top coat I had at home that I wasn't using.  I used a plastic drinking straw (It was the closest thing I could find) and started to scrape the eye shadow out of the container. I did this over a small piece of paper. Try to smash it up and not get any big pieces because the big pieces are hard to get mixed in the top coat. I then carefully poured the eye shadow into the bottle of top coat. This is where I made a mess, pour slowly and gently tap the bottle on the table to get the shadow to fall into the bottle.*Be careful not to bump the paper and spill the shadow-I learned from experience *  Once you get it all in there just put the lid on and shake shake shake senora :) Viola DIY nail polish!

PRO-FX

Well this post is just a boring post about PRO-FX Quick Dry High Gloss Top Coat lol. I've been looking at this bottle at my local Walmart and have been debating whether to buy it or not. It's just a big bottle (2.5 FL. Oz.- 75ml) of top coat for around $5. My thinking was that I already have a bunch of different top coats so what do I need another one for? I broke down and bought it and boy am I happy :) This top coat is great. It's not too thick that it never dries right, it's not too thick that it is stringy, and on the flip side it's not too thin that it takes 4 coats. I love the consistency of it. It also dries fast and it's nice and shiny. So to sum it up if you have been thinking about buying this my opinion is GO FOR IT, it's a great buy :) Thanks for reading.

Fancy French

I wanted a french, my favorite nail style, but I wanted to add some bling to it so this is what I came up with. Again easy to do.

Nail Polish Used:
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails: 110 Hard to Get
Wet n Wild megalast: Private Viewing
Kiss Nail Art Paint: silver glitter

How To:
First I applied my base coat and then I used Private Viewing. Once that has COMPLETELY dried I used plain old/normal/not anything fancy scotch tape and taped up my nails only leaving only the tips exposed. This is my little cheat to getting great french tips ;-) *You really have to make sure that your nude polish is dry though or the tape will mess it up pretty bad* When you get all 10 nails taped up you can apply the white polish. I applied two coats of white and then I carefully removed the tape. I didn't wait for the white to dry this time and went right to my glitter nail art pen. Once I applied the glitter line to all the nails I let them dry a little and then started to apply my rhinestones with clear top coat and my dotting tool. I bought my rhinestones and dotting tools off of ebay. You can usually find all your nail art supplies on there for really cheap. My only issue with it is that its getting shipped from Hong Kong so it takes at least 3 weeks for me to get it. But anyway I got off track there. To apply the rhinestones you just simply use your dotting tool *or if you don't have one you can use a bobby pin* and apply a small dot of clear polish where you want the rhinestone and then with the other end of the tool I picked up the gem and pushed it into the dot. It's just as simple as that. Once you get all the rhinestones on just apply at least 2 layers of top coat.

Cookie Monster

Cookie Monster Nails! I painted these on my niece and she loved them :)

Polish used:
Salley Hansen Insta-Dri : 430 Brisk Blue
Wet n Wild megalast: Private Viewing
Essie: Mink Muffs
(2) Art Decos: White and Black

The how to is super easy and pretty self explanatory.. I simply painted the thumb with the Brisk Blue and the other four fingers with the Private Viewing. Once they are completely dry I used my dotting tool to apply the "chocolate chips" which I chose Mink Muffs. Cookie monsters eyes were applied with dotting tools as well. I tried making the black dots in the center of his eyes even but I thought they looked better when they were crooked and googly eyed. Once that has all dried you had at least one layer of top coat. Make sure the eyes have dried or the black will run into the white and mess it up :-/   Viola there's your Cookie Monster nails :)

Orly- Oh Cabana Boy

Just wanted to share one of my colors which is Orly's Oh Cabana Boy. I just love this color! It's a great shade of pink. It's bright and very girly. I keep calling my nails my Barbie nails :) It took two coats to get the color to match whats in the bottle. I've only had the color on a day but I have no complaints yet. I'm getting lots of compliments on it, so that always makes my day :)

First Post!

Well today I'm starting my blog. I hope I can get some followers and hope I have enough interesting things to post :) I'll start out with some info: My name is Amanda. I'm 24. I'm a waitress at my mom's small family restaurant. I'm currently in a 6 year relationship with my boyfriend. I love the colors PINK, BLACK, WHITE, and PURPLE. I use :) <- these way too much. I love nail polish and nail art and I want to share my love with the world. I have a nail polish collection which constantly changes, I'm always adding to it or getting rid of polish but my current count as of this very moment is 230 bottles but that's including 11 nail art/ stripper bottles. The picture above is my collection. It is missing the 20 or so bottles I bought today though. I made the shelves myself using a video from YouTube. I'll make a post on them later and include the link. My hopes for this post is to show you some of my favorite colors are and some of the nail are I've done and that I like. Thanks for stopping by and hopefully you'll like my blog :)
